Middle East and Africa Office - Tunis

The U.S. Grains Council Middle East and Afirca Regional Office covers the Mediterranean region (Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Libya); the Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Turkey and Egypt) as well as Sub-Saharan Africa. The office is based in Tunis, Tunisia and has been operating since December 1996 after being transferred from Vienna. The Council has been very active along the past 20 years in collaborating with the different government entities (Ministry of Agriculture and agricultural agencies and associations) as well as feed grains importers and feed millers. Council efforts focus on the planning and implementation of technical market developments and trade promotion activities through the organization of educational seminars/workshops, short courses/training sessions as well as sponsoring team trips to the U.S. with the aim of enhancing and increasing the exports of U.S. feed grains products focusing on corn, barley and sorghum and its co-products.

The U.S. Grains Council played an important role in increasing the feed grains market capacities in the region in removing certain import bans and customs duties on imports of sorghum, barley and corn and its co-productsthrough the organization of feeding trials which contributed to improve feed grains imports, reduce feed concentrate production costs and the profitability of the dairy farmers and poultry producers.

In order to fulfill its mission of building markets for America's grains, the U.S. Grains Council operates 10 international offices as well as its headquarters in Washington, D.C. Please contact international staff in the Washington office first. Washington staff will know who is available to provide the best and quickest response to your questions.
